Nakayama Miho was born on March 1, 1970 in Tokyo, Japan. She is an idol famous in the late 80s and early 90s, known for her fashion sense and hats (which she looks a little like Nakamori Akina when she wears them.) If I remember correctly, Hamasaki Ayumi is a big fan of hers. During high school, Miho took a part-time semester to make commercials (one of them was with Harrison Ford) and do some modeling. Then in 1985 she starred in a drama called "Maido osare ga seshimasu" and many other dramas after that. Afterwards she was signed to King Records and in June of 1985, released her debut single "C" which came in very high on the charts at #12. She immediately broke top ten from then on making her very successful from the start. She has in fact never had a single above the top 40! Her younger sister, Nakayama Shinobu was an idol also, although a small-time one. Miho was considered a part of the "Four Heavenly Idol Kings" as with Asaka Yui, Kudou Shizuka, and Minamino Youko, the new age of top idol singers from the late 80s. Called Miporin by her adoring fans, she rose straight to the top with her more mature style singing. She hit her first number one out of many with her 11th single "CATCH ME." She has had seven consecutive Kouhaku Utagassen appearances from 1988 to 1994, and two singles which have grossed more than 100 million yen each! After attending her last Kouhaku in 1994, she decided to continue with her acting career. In 1995 she starred in the movie "Love Letter" and won an award for Best Actress at the Yokohama Film Festival. After 1999 she announced that she was going on hiatus as a singer. In 2002 she married, and in 2004 gave birth to a son. She now lives in Paris, France with her family, and continues to do commercials, and acting in movies and dramas. Her best known singles are: "You're My Only Shinin' Star", "Ningyo-hime", "Sekaijuu no dare yori kitto", and "Tada nakitaku naru no."
