Kikuchi Momoko was born on May 4, 1968 in Tokyo, Japan. Momoko started out not singing, but actually in modeling and acting. She began modeling in 1983, her first booking as an image girl for a science magazine (I can't imagine many idols being much for science.) In 1984 she got her musical breakthrough, and debuted her first single "Seishun no ijiwaru" on the same day as idol Okada Yukiko's debut, introducing them as a rival pair of sorts. Momoko was thought sure to win the Idol Rookie award of 1984, but instead it went to Yukiko. Momoko; however, hit the number one spot first, and produced many of them. She hit her first number one in 1985 with her 4th single and had a neat string of six consecutive number ones after that. Her music was a breath of fresh air among the many monotonous idol voices of her time, and it also helped to initiate the 2nd wave of idols in the 80s. In 1988 she traded in her solo career for starting up a rock band which was named "Ra Mu" (though they weren't much of a rock band, but more like pop still.) The industry was trying to match them up with Honda Minako and her band THE WILDCATS. They actually did much better than Minako and her band, but like them as well Ra Mu broke up after only a year, releasing four singles in the process, three of which made the top ten. After her venture with the band, Momoko decided she wanted to return to acting. In 1995, she got married to professional golfer, Nishikawa Akira. She now has two children, and still continues to be active in the world of fame by commonly staring in dramas and commercials, as well as releasing cookbooks. Her most famous singles are: "Yuki ni kaita LOVE LETTER", "Sotsugyou -GRADUATION-", "BOY no Theme", and "Nile in Blue."

Recently I've been reading Banana Yoshimoto's Kitchen.
Would anyone know what tune the narrator and Yuichi are singing while cleaning up? I want to do a short note on my blog and post the music with it.. haha but now I can't find the right song!
I managed to find out that it's a song by Momoko Kikuchi (not Sakuchi as translator Megan Backus believes).
Does anybody know which song by this Japanese 80's pop star features a lighthouse?
@ booktunes.
Hopefully you will have time to see this.
If I am not mistaken, the song you're looking for is: Futari no Night Drive by Kikuchi Momoko.
